National Lottery EuroMillions Draw Hit by Technical Glitch
A technical glitch hit the National Lottery's website on Friday, preventing players from buying EuroMillions tickets online ahead of the draw. The issue, which occurred just before the draw, left customers unable to update their online accounts to make purchases.
Camelot, the operator of the National Lottery and an Accenture company, acknowledged the problem. They attributed it to 'unprecedented demand' and issues with online banking systems. The website, one of the UK's largest e-commerce sites by visitor volume, supports the world's largest online lottery.
Details about the current leadership of Camelot's IT department are not clear. However, Marcel Oenning serves as the Senior Manager of the Analytics Architecture Advisory area. In 2005, Camelot achieved a significant milestone by becoming one of the first UK companies to reach Maturity Level 2 on the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) standard.
The technical fault, which affected players' ability to buy EuroMillions tickets online, was resolved after the draw. Camelot is yet to provide specific details about the steps taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
