Music-Focused Sequel "Bill & Ted Face the Music" Delivers Accurate Beats According to Continuum's Standards

In a recent development, VFX Editor Richard Sanchez has announced that he will be using Continuum's Primatte Studio as his go-to tool for future projects. Sanchez, who worked on the hit film Bill & Ted Face the Music, found the software invaluable for the quality of work and time-savings it provided.

Sanchez, who runs an assistant editing training program called Master the Workflow, was initially apprehensive about using Primatte Studio. However, a 10-minute tutorial on the Boris FX website helped him get started, and he quickly discovered the software's intuitive controls and additional features.

Two major sequences in Bill & Ted Face the Music were shot on green screen, and Sanchez found his old methods inadequate for these complex shots. He had used Mocha Pro in After Effects for roto work and removing tracking markers, but found Primatte Studio's integration of Mocha to be a game-changer. The Mocha integration saved Sanchez a significant amount of time, allowing him to quickly mock up shots and revise them with ease.

The advanced chroma keying capabilities of Primatte Studio proved particularly useful for the green screen work in Bill & Ted Face the Music. Its precise and automatic background removal, edge detail preservation, accurate spill suppression, and advanced matte finesse controls resulted in cleaner composites and improved final image quality. Primatte Studio also supported complex keying scenarios, such as semi-transparent objects (hair, glass) and uneven lighting conditions, making it an ideal tool for green screen work.

Sanchez believes that third-party plugins, particularly Continuum, are valuable for VFX editors. He plans to insist upon the use of Continuum on future shows, citing the software's ability to streamline workflow and improve final image quality. With its advanced features and easy integration into popular NLE systems, Primatte Studio is a powerful tool for VFX editors looking to tackle green screen work with confidence and efficiency.

Technology in data-and-cloud-computing platforms played a crucial role in Sanchez's process, as he relied on Boris FX's website for a quick tutorial that enabled him to utilize Primatte Studio's software effectively. The VFX Editor's appreciation for Continuum's Primatte Studio extends to its potential impact on modern technology in the field of visual effects editing, highlighting its potential for streamlining workflows and enhancing final image quality.
