Mondi Launches Recyclable FlexiBag Reinforced for Enhanced Pet Food Packaging
Mondi, a global leader in packaging and paper, has introduced FlexiBag Reinforced, a range of recyclable, mono-PE-based plastic bags designed for enhanced performance and sustainability. The new product line is a result of the company's commitment to meeting future regulatory requirements and customer needs, led by Dirk Gabriel, the COO of Mondi Consumer Flexibles.
FlexiBag Reinforced offers improved puncture resistance, stiffness, and sealability, making it an ideal packaging solution for the pet food industry. Mera, a German pet food producer, has already adopted this innovation for its 10-kilogram vegan dry dog food packs, containing 35% PCR content.
The new range is a cost-effective customization option for customers, as Mondi created it in-house. It features adjustable barrier protection levels, providing medium to high barriers against fat, oxygen, and moisture. Furthermore, Mondi proactively caters to future regulatory requirements by offering a customized percentage of PCR content in FlexiBag Reinforced. The implementation of FlexiBag Reinforced was smooth for Mera, as it was compatible with the company's existing machinery.
FlexiBag Reinforced is a testament to Mondi's commitment to sustainability and innovation. It is recyclable where collection facilities and recycling systems for PE films are in place, further reducing its environmental impact.
