Mercedes GLA EQ: New Compact Electric SUV Coming Late 2026
Mercedes is set to expand its electric range with the GLA EQ, due in late 2026, followed by a hybrid variant in early 2027. The compact SUV will grow slightly in length and retain its crossover shape.
The GLA EQ will be the first model on the new Multi-Energy Platform MMA, expected in the second half of 2026. It will be a more compact version of the GLC EQ, featuring a rounded front design and short hood, similar to the latest GLC EQ. The GLA EQ will replace the current entry-level electric model, the EQA.
Before the GLA EQ's arrival, Mercedes plans to introduce the CLA or CLA Shooting Brake on the new MMA platform. This will happen earlier in 2026.
The GLA EQ, set to launch in late 2026, will be a significant addition to Mercedes' electric lineup. It will offer a more compact option than the GLC EQ, with a similar design and concept. A hybrid variant will follow in early 2027.
