macOS Tahoe, the latest iteration of Apple's operating system for Macs, brings a host of exciting updates that enhance the user experience. Here's a guide to some of the key features you can explore.
Supercharged Spotlight Search
Spotlight Search in macOS Tahoe has received a significant boost, offering improved Apple Intelligence and the ability to search through other apps. To use it, press or click the Spotlight icon in the upper-right corner of your screen.
Type queries using natural language to get more accurate results. You can navigate sub-menus using for Applications, for Files, for Actions, and for Clipboard. You can also use Tab and arrow keys to navigate.
Quick Actions allow you to type keywords like "SM" to send messages or "AR" to add reminders.
Image Playground with ChatGPT
Image Playground, found in your Applications folder or through Spotlight, now offers the option to outsource image generation to ChatGPT. This provides access to at least five new visual styles for image generation, including oil paintings and anime illustrations.
Liquid Glass Customization
macOS Tahoe introduces a visual redesign, called the "Liquid Glass" design language. This makes the whole interface feel more transparent. To customize folders, on a folder, select "Customize this folder," and change folder colors or add emojis to files.
Games App
The new Games app in macOS Tahoe serves as a one-stop shop for finding and playing games on Mac. It can find and list all the games installed in the Library and also sell new games, including Apple Arcade.
The Games app also features an in-game overlay for messaging friends and a Play Together section that allows users to add friends, initiate multiplayer gaming sessions, and issue challenges in select single-player games.
Journal App
The Journal app, available on Macs with macOS Tahoe, is a welcome addition for writers who prefer to write longer entries. It provides a larger keyboard for typing, making it an ideal tool for those who spend a lot of time writing.
