Steven Kay, project leader, spoke to Reuters, expressing that, "LUPIN brings Europe one giant leap closer to establishing a human presence on the moon, paving the way for future Mars exploration or human settlement on Mars."

LUPIN, utilizing signals from satellites in lunar orbit like GPS on Earth, makes real-time location tracking a reality for lunar explorers. This innovation eliminates the need for complex calculations and the reliance on delayed data transmitted from Earth.

Thanks to LUPIN's sterling performance in the unforgiving lunar environment, navigation on the moon will boast capabilities similar to Earth-based navigation, but expertly tailored for space endeavors. The system underwent testing in Fuerteventura, a Canary Island, renowned for its volcanic geology and topography replicating the lunar surface.
