Live at Great Park: EAW Delivers Accurate Audio Experience

When it comes to delivering crystal-clear, vibrant live music, Pacific Coast Entertainment's (PCE) latest project at Great Park Live in Irvine, CA, showcases the power of the innovative Anya ADAPTive loudspeaker from Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW).
With Tom Pappanduros, PCE's production manager, leading the scene, the team navigated challenges to create a sound system that delivered an exceptional audience experience, all while minimizing sound bleed into the neighboring community. And they knocked it out of the park with EAW's Anya rig!
Giant Leap in Amplified Audio
The unique EAW sound system, tailored for Great Park Live, features an assemblage of 24 Anya boxes (12 on each side) and 24 Otto subwoofers, centrally positioned. Pappanduros explained, "The extraordinary speakers, powerful yet precise, allowed PCE to tweak the sound based on varied event requirements. We juggled different configurations for the low-end, focusing on energy control to make the most of the venue's space and minimize disturbances to nearby homes, resulting in the perfect balance."
The Anya loudspeaker, a three-way full-range ADAPTive array module from EAW, adapts all performance parameters electronically. Its remarkable versatility makes it suitable for everything from intimate venues to grand amphitheaters, such as Great Park Live. Similarly, the Otto ADAPTive subwoofer masterfully balances low-frequency coverage with cancellation to cater to the user's pattern control preferences. Patterned subwoofers arranged together afford "nearly endless" possibilities for low-frequency pattern control.
The Nifty Tech Behind the Magic
One of the star attractions of the Anya system lies in its ADAPTive Technology. During one event, city officials noticed sound levels exceeding regulations in bordering neighborhoods. With just a few clicks, PCE quickly adjusted the Anya's area from 300 feet to 180 feet, decreasing decibel levels without compromising the concert experience—all while the audience remained oblivious to the change!
