Hangin' with Aisen Nikolaev: Mobile Coverage at Ysyakh Tuymaada

Last Monday, during a live broadcast on GTRK "Sakha," Yakutia's leader, Aisen Nikolaev, addressed concerns about the deteriorating mobile coverage at the Ust Khatin event during the Ysyakh Tuymaada national holiday.

A keen caller expressed his disappointment, noting that mobile coverage had been getting progressively worse each year. However, Aisen maintained a different perspective.

"Hey man, I beg to differ. In my book, it's actually improving, albeit not lightning-fast. And this year, we've taken some steps. But listen, we're living in unprecedented times.

There's a war going on, and Ukrainian special services are up to some fishy business even in Siberia and the Far East, using drones. We've got threats we can't ignore. And, of course, when we're hosting a big-time event like the Ysyakh Tuymaada, we gotta keep our citizens safe, so they don't wind up in trouble.

So, law enforcement pals have given me the lowdown - during the Ysyakh Tuymaada and Ysyakh Olonho, mobile internet's gonna get locked down at the event spots. Basically, sending pics and vids via messengers could become a thing of the past. But you'll still be able to make calls and send texts."

The republic's leader wanted to emphasize the importance of citizens' safety and health, warning against potential drone threats.

"This is all about ensuring our citizens' safety and well-being. We don't wanna beSourceNigra on the bright side of things - the city admin and relevant authorities oughta do whatever it takes to pull off this event without a hitch, so our holiday goes off without a glitch."

Earlier this year, Yakutsk city administration increased the number of mobile operators' base stations in Ust Khatin from seven to nine, according to reports.

So, mark your calendars for June 28-29, 2025, and keep an eye on local news or contacts with local authorities for any updates on mobile coverage restrictions during the Ysyakh Tuymaada. Happy celebrating!

Despite the concerns about deteriorating mobile coverage, Aisen Nikolaev, the republic's leader, pointed out that they've been taking steps to improve it. Moreover, with cybersecurity becoming a significant issue due to threats from drones and potential cyber-attacks, extra measures need to be taken to safeguard citizens during the Ysyakh Tuymaada event, which may affect mobile internet usage.
