Koehler's NexFlex Revolutionizes Paper Packaging, Wynn Pioneers Plastic-Free Pet Food
Koehler Innovation & Technology has introduced NexFlex, a revolutionary paper packaging range designed to replace plastic in various industries, including the pet food sector. This innovation comes as a significant step towards reducing plastic waste and CO2 emissions, with paper packaging boasting an impressive 81.5% recycling rate in Europe.
The NexFlex range, featuring NexPlus, NexCoat, and NexPure, offers robust protection due to its barrier properties against oxygen, mineral oil, and grease. This makes it an ideal solution for packaging food and non-food products.
In Germany alone, approximately 10 million cans of wet pet food are discarded daily, contributing to resource consumption and environmental impact. Enter Wynn, a German pet food startup that has pioneered the use of 100% paper packaging for its premium dog food blends and snacks. Founder Henrike Ludowig sought packaging that was both resource-efficient and product-protective, leading her to collaborate with Koehler Paper. Together, they developed paper packaging that meets these stringent requirements, marking the first time paper packaging is used for wet food blends in the pet food industry.
Several Koehler Paper products, including those in the NexFlex range, have been awarded the 'Made for Recycling' seal by Interzero, further cementing their commitment to sustainability. By embracing paper packaging, Wynn is not only setting a new standard in the pet food industry but also helping to reduce plastic waste and CO2 emissions, one dog treat at a time.
