Kia's new EV5 model will be exclusively available in Canada, being bypassed in the U.S. market.
The automotive industry is abuzz with excitement as Kia prepares to launch its new EV5 electric compact SUV in Canada next year. This innovative vehicle is expected to provide an affordable entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market for Canadian consumers.
The EV5 follows Kia's 'Opposites United' design philosophy, offering a unique blend of a boxy yet modern aesthetic. The SUV sports a distinctive 'tiger face' grille, 3D star map lighting, and a rear spoiler designed to enhance aerodynamics.
Inside, the EV5 boasts a nearly 30-inch panoramic display, mood lighting, soft-touch materials, and seating for five passengers. The second row of seats can fold completely flat, offering flexibility for cargo space or overnight stays while camping.
Canadian buyers will have the choice between eight exterior colours, including new options like Magma Red and Glacier Blue. Customers can also choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations for the EV5.
The EV5 will be available with two battery options: a standard 60.3 kWh battery and a larger 81.4 kWh pack for extended range. Notably, the EV5 will feature a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing owners to use Tesla's Supercharger network. However, it's important to note that the EV5 will not be a Tesla vehicle.
Kia's upcoming EV5 will be available exclusively in Canada, bypassing the U.S. market. Despite this, the EV5 will offer access to Tesla's Supercharger network, providing a convenient charging solution for Canadian owners.
The EV5 will be positioned between Kia's EV6 and an upcoming EV3 in terms of size and price, offering a compelling mid-range option for consumers looking to make the switch to electric vehicles.
Mark your calendars, as the EV5 will make its national debut at the 2025 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto from February 14-23. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new addition to Kia's electric vehicle lineup.
