Japanese Artisans Collaborate with Casio to Craft Artisanal G-Shock Watches, Featuring Manually Hammered Textures and Authentic Japanese Artistry
In a fusion of tradition and modernity, Casio has unveiled the MRG-B5000HT watch, a limited-edition timepiece that showcases the artistry of Japanese metalworking. The watch's unique selling point is the meticulous application of the tsuiki hammering technique by master artisan Kazuya Watanabe.
Crafted from DAT55G titanium alloy, the MRG-B5000HT boasts a durability three times harder than pure titanium. The tsuiki hammering process, a traditional Japanese metalworking method perfected over centuries, creates unique three-dimensional relief patterns on the watch's bezel and bracelet. Each watch thus has a distinctive hammer-print, giving it a bespoke visual identity.
The watch's case is finished with an oborogin colour, a silver-gray with a luster reminiscent of traditional Japanese sword fittings, using diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating. Deep shiny copper-colored screws and buttons add a touch of luxury to the design.
The MRG-B5000HT offers a host of features, including 200-meter water resistance, shock protection, Bluetooth connectivity, Multiband 6 atomic timekeeping, world time for 31 zones, stopwatch functions, countdown timers, and multiple daily alarms. The watch's solar charging and negative LCD display ensure readability in various lighting conditions.
What sets the MRG-B5000HT apart in the luxury watch market is its seamless blend of heritage and artistry, advanced materials, and limited availability. With only 500 units available worldwide, the watch is a highly exclusive offering. It represents the MR-G line's philosophy of combining Japanese craftsmanship techniques with cutting-edge materials and technology, positioning MR-G as a luxury wearable art rather than just a rugged sports watch.
Priced at approximately 935,000 yen or around US$6,387, the MRG-B5000HT is a testament to Casio's commitment to merging tradition and innovation in watchmaking. Each watch is a unique piece of art, a testament to the skill of its master artisan and a symbol of the enduring appeal of traditional Japanese craftsmanship in the modern world.
