iShares Launches First European ESG-Screened Sector ETFs, Attracting €4.4B
iShares has launched the first European ESG-screened equity sector ETFs, tracking the MSCI ESG-Screened Index. These ten sector ETFs, classified as Article 8 funds, have attracted significant inflows this year, exceeding 4.4 billion euros.
The new ETFs, which eliminate companies with poor ESG ratings from Europa, use an enhanced screening method that includes filters for conventional weapons. This approach builds on iShares' existing MSCI-based ETFs, such as the iShares MSCI USA ESG Screened UCITS ETF, and sets them apart from other notable issuers like VanEck and Robeco.
Covering a broad range of sectors including Communication Services, Consumer Staples and Durables, Energy, Financials, Health Care, Industrials, Information Technology, Utilities, and Materials, these ETFs offer investors a comprehensive way to gain exposure to European countries while prioritising ESG factors.
The launch of these ETFs marks a significant step in the growing demand for sustainable investing in Europe. With inflows already exceeding 4.4 billion euros this year, these funds are poised to attract more investors seeking to align their portfolios with their values while maintaining broad market exposure.
