Investment of $7 million by LeBron James, Maverick Carter, and others in fantasy sports and gaming platform
In the dynamic world of sports and technology, Fantasy Life, a revolutionary fantasy sports and gaming platform, has secured significant investments from an impressive lineup of high-profile individuals.
Founded by veteran fantasy football personality Matthew Berry, Fantasy Life has attracted the attention of investors from various sectors, including sports, media, and technology. The key investors include LRMR Ventures, led by NBA star LeBron James and his business partner Maverick Carter, who led the $7 million seed funding round. SC Holdings, known for bridging media and tech investments, also co-led the round.
Other notable investors include Gerry Cardinale, founder of RedBird Capital, a major private equity investment firm with stakes in sports and media properties. Jeff Shell, chairman of the media and entertainment industry, is also among the investors. Chad Hurley, co-founder of YouTube, brings strong tech and digital platform expertise to the table.
Sports figures such as Tony Khan, AEW president and sports team owner, and Larry Fitzgerald, former NFL star, provide deep sports insight. Roger Ehrenberg, co-owner of the Miami Marlins and Alpine Formula One Racing, offers sports franchise investment experience. David Blitzer, co-founder of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment with stakes across major North American sports leagues and international soccer clubs, contributes extensive sports ownership and business knowledge.
Existing investors include NFL quarterbacks Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, and wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Austin Ekeler. Notable entertainers like John Legend and music mogul Donald Mustard have also invested.
The new funding will be used to develop a more customizable app and improve mobile experiences for players. Fantasy Life is planning to acquire a rival company, Guillotine Leagues, to further strengthen its position in the sports gaming ecosystem.
Paul Charchian, a veteran in the fantasy sports industry, created Guillotine Leagues through his Heavy Blade LLC banner. Traditionally, these customized rosters compete for cash prizes against other players, using the real statistics provided by each player on various playing fields.
Wasserman Ventures and Bolt Ventures, the family office of David Blitzer, have also invested in Fantasy Life. Matthew Berry, CEO of Fantasy Life, stated that the new investment will enable the platform to build a more customizable app and enhance mobile experiences for players.
With these strategic investments, Fantasy Life is poised to make a significant impact in the rapidly evolving sports gaming industry.
