Intel Unveils ATX 3.0: New Power Supply Standard for Enhanced Efficiency
Intel has introduced ATX 3.0, a new standard for computer power supply connectors. This update, which allows for higher voltage drops, particularly at +12V, aims to enhance power efficiency.
Previously, the ATX v2.53 specification outlined strict voltage ranges for each rail. Now, ATX v3.0 relaxes these limits, permitting up to 8% voltage drop for PCIe connectors and 7% for most +12V connectors. This change is designed to boost power supply performance and reduce costs.
The new standard was developed by Intel, aiming to balance power delivery and efficiency. Power supply units (PSUs) must still maintain their rails within predefined ranges at all times to ensure stable power supply to components.
ATX v3.0, developed by Intel, introduces higher voltage drops for improved efficiency. PSUs must still adhere to voltage range limits for reliable operation. This update reflects the evolving needs of modern computing systems.
