iMessage Activation Issue on iOS 26: How to Fix It
Apple users have recently encountered an issue while trying to activate iMessage on their iPhones 14, 15, or 16. The problem arises when attempting to use iMessage with an inactive SIM that shares the same phone number as the active SIM, and only on iOS 26. The issue of activating iMessage has been causing trouble for some iPhone 14, 15, and 16 users. Those who had not installed the iOS 18.7.1 update were particularly affected. The problem can manifest in several ways, including undelivered iMessages, SMS or RCS messages appearing as green bubbles instead of blue, messages being sent via email, or duplicate phone numbers showing up in Settings. To resolve this issue, Apple recommends removing or deleting the inactive SIM card from the device. After doing so, users should then reactivate iMessage through the Settings app on their iPhones 14, 15, or 16. In summary, iPhone 14, 15, and 16 users on iOS 26 may encounter difficulties activating iMessage when using an inactive SIM with the same phone number. To fix this, remove the inactive SIM and reactivate iMessage through Settings. Keeping your iOS up to date, such as installing iOS 18.7.1, can also help prevent such issues.
