In a bid to reshape the transportation landscape, Revoy Technologies has unveiled the Revoy Dolly - a groundbreaking electric drive unit designed to convert traditional diesel long-haul trucks into electric hybrids swiftly and without modification.

The self-contained Dolly, weighing approximately 11 tons and powered by a 575-kWh battery pack, seamlessly inserts between a truck (tractor) and its trailer, connecting at the standard fifth-wheel hitch. This innovative solution can be installed in about four minutes at specialized swap stations, where depleted dolly batteries are replaced with fully charged ones, ensuring rapid turnaround that significantly outpaces diesel refuelling or fast charging times.

The Dolly's electric power and assist features include steering correction for improved handling in crosswinds, regenerative braking, auto-reversing, and blind-spot detection, all controlled via a smartphone app. Remarkably, it does not necessitate any modifications to the truck or trailer, leveraging existing air and electrical lines while adding sensors and a "smart" kingpin to manage the interaction.

By electrifying the trailer's wheels, the Dolly provides additional traction and reduces diesel fuel reliance, enhancing driving efficiency and safety without compromising the driving experience. The swap station model allows long-haul routes, even thousands of miles, to be electrified sustainably by renewable-powered charging infrastructure.

Revoy plans to expand its battery swap network along major freight corridors, making the Dolly a promising solution for countries like Australia, Europe, and Asia, where range-based charging limits still hinder electric truck adoption. The Dolly is leased on a per-mile basis to truck operators, allowing them to access electric propulsion without large upfront investments.

While the Dolly adds extra weight to the truck, potentially cutting into available payload under the 40-ton federal limit for gross vehicle weight, its benefits in terms of sustainability, efficiency, and reduced operating costs make it an enticing proposition for the future of long-haul trucking.

  1. The Revoy Dolly, a technology innovation, has disrupted the transportation industry by convertTING traditional diesel long-haul trucks into electric hybrids, all without the need for modification.
  2. Financed through leasing on a per-mile basis, the Dolly offers a more affordable entry point for truck operators to adopt science and technology in the form of electric propulsion.
  3. With its regenerative braking and blind-spot detection features, the Dolly not only enhances driving efficiency and safety but also reduces diesel fuel reliance, making it a sustainable energy solution for long-haul transportation.
  4. Revoy's expansion plan for battery swap stations along major freight corridors positions the Dolly as a promising solution for countries worldwide, including Australia, Europe, and Asia, where range challenges have hindered electric truck adoption.
