Introducing the Geely Galaxy A7: A Stylish and Efficient Plug-in Hybrid Sedan

The Geely Galaxy A7, a new mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan, has made its debut, promising to shake up the hybrid sedan market with its advanced hybrid powertrain, premium interior features, and competitive pricing.

With a length of 4918 mm, width of 1905 mm, and height of 1495 mm, the Galaxy A7 offers a spacious cabin and a wheelbase of 2845 mm. This sleek vehicle boasts a drag coefficient of 0.229, thanks to its aerodynamic design, closed front grille with full-width LED daytime running lights, and continuous LED rear light strip. Higher trims come equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels and a hidden exhaust layout for a sleek look.

Inside, the Galaxy A7 combines physical controls with digital displays, soft-touch surfaces, metallic and woodgrain accents. The cabin benefits from a flat floor design enhancing rear legroom. The standard features include a 15.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen running Flyme Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a 16.6-inch head-up display. Front seats come with ventilation standard, and higher trims add heating and 14-point massage functions. The cargo space is versatile, with a trunk capacity from 535 to 988 liters.

The Geely Galaxy A7 is powered by the Geely EM AI Super Hybrid 2.0 powertrain, which pairs a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine (82 kW / 110 hp) with an electric motor to deliver a combined output of 175 kW (235 hp). This hybrid vehicle offers two battery options with pure electric ranges of 70 km or 150 km, catering to both urban and long-distance use. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about 7.1 seconds.

The 1.5-liter engine achieves a best-in-class thermal efficiency of 47.26%, with an average fuel consumption of roughly 2.67 L/100 km (88 mpg US), emphasizing its hybrid economy.

In terms of competitors, the Galaxy A7 targets the mid-size hybrid sedan segment where it competes with vehicles such as the Toyota Camry Hybrid, Honda Accord Hybrid, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, BYD Han DM (plug-in hybrid), and NIO ET5 (in markets where EV alternatives are considered).

The Geely Galaxy A7 was launched during an evening event, and customers who purchase any variant of the Galaxy A7 before September 30 will receive a trade-in discount of RMB 8,000. The actual starting price of the Galaxy A7, after the trade-in discount, is RMB 81,800. The price of the Geely Galaxy A7 in Hong Kong dollars is approximately HKD 600,000.

To date, the Geely Galaxy A7 has received over 10,000 firm orders, positioning it as a strong contender, especially in markets focusing on new energy vehicles. The Galaxy A7 was developed by Geely Auto sub-brand and is the first plug-in hybrid sedan based on Geely's GEA architecture.
