Solingen Shopping Center Introduces Cashless Parking System

Starting from November 16, the Solingen shopping center parking garage will be transitioning to a cashless parking system. This change is a "key prerequisite" for Contipark, the parking service provider, to convert cash machines to cashless.

Under the new system, drivers no longer need to take a ticket at the barrier. Instead, they can enter their license plate number at the machine upon entry. For Pcard holders, inserting the Pcard into the machine upon exit will facilitate automatic billing.

The parking fees structure for Pcard holders remains unchanged with the new billing system. The daily maximum rate for Pcard holders remains at €4.00, while the fees for the first two half hours remain at €0.60 each. Every additional full hour costs €1.00 for Pcard holders.

For non-Pcard holders, the daily maximum rate is €7.00.

Payment can be made using common credit cards or Apple Pay. Cash payment at the payment machines will no longer be possible from November 16.

Contipark is switching to purely card-based payment due to changing customer behavior. A parking garage is officially cashless if at least 80 percent of customers have previously paid with a credit or debit card at a location.

For specific instructions on how to use Solingen's new cashless parking system, we recommend checking the official website of the Solingen shopping center or the local municipality parking authority. They usually provide step-by-step instructions, including how to register, pay, and validate your parking session digitally.

If you're unfamiliar with cashless parking systems, you may need to use a mobile app, a contactless payment card, or a digital wallet to pay for parking without cash. We encourage you to familiarise yourself with these methods before the transition date to ensure a smooth parking experience.
