Hofgarten Solingen Adopts Tickeless Payment Method for Parking Spaces
The Hofgarten parking garage at the Solingen shopping center is set to undergo a significant change, as a new billing system comes into effect from November 16. This system, focusing on convenience and clear maximum daily charges, aims to cater to the changing customer behavior towards cashless payments.
The new system, operated by Contipark, will employ license plate recognition technology. Drivers no longer need to take a ticket at the barrier upon entry. Instead, they can pay for their parking at automated machines by entering their license plate number. Cash payment at the machines will no longer be possible from November 16.
For regular shoppers, the good news is that the new system offers a cost cap. Pcard holders, who are given a specific parking card linked to the shopping center, will be charged a daily maximum rate of €4.00. This means that no matter how long you park within that day, you won't be charged more than €4.00 if you hold a Pcard. For non-Pcard holders, the daily maximum rate is €7.00.
The parking fees structure remains unchanged for Pcard holders. The first and second half hour in the garage costs €0.60 each, and every additional full hour costs €1.00. The hourly rates for Pcard holders are the same as for non-Pcard holders.
Upon exiting the garage, Pcard holders simply need to insert their card into a machine for billing. The barrier to the underground garage will open automatically, providing a smooth and quick exit process.
This switch to purely card-based payment is a "key prerequisite" for Contipark to convert cash machines to exclusively cashless payment methods. The company responds to this change as a response to the predominant use of cashless payment methods in the past.
In summary, the new billing system in the Hofgarten parking garage offers a flexible payment method while providing a cost cap for frequent visitors using a Pcard, making it both user-friendly and economical for regular shoppers at the Solingen shopping center.
