Highlights at Ford Center: Unveiling Over 3,000 Square Feet of High-Definition Screens
In the bustling world of sports entertainment, two notable venues are set to enhance their offerings with state-of-the-art LED displays, courtesy of the industry-leading Daktronics.
Last fall, the Ford Center in Evansville, IN, awarded the project to Daktronics for the design, manufacture, and delivery of 20 LED displays, set to be installed in 2024. The Terre Haute Casino Resort also made the decision to upgrade their displays, with Daktronics chosen for the same tasks.
At the Ford Center, a new 360-degree scoreboard will be installed, offering increased flexibility for creative and personalised event experiences. This centrepiece will be complemented by seven courtside scorers tables, each measuring approximately 2.5x8 feet, and featuring 5.9mm pixel spacing. An upper ring display, matching the shape of the main display, will measure approximately 2.5x97 feet around, while a lower ring display will span nearly 2x77 feet in circumference.
Four ribbon displays were installed along the seating fascia at Terre Haute Casino Resort, with each display measuring roughly 2.5 feet high and featuring 10mm pixel spacing. The lengths of these displays range from 193.5 feet long to 46 feet long, providing a combined total linear feet of digital display space of 422.5 feet.
The main video display at Terre Haute Casino Resort wraps around the centerhung structure, appealing to every seat in the arena. The centerhung itself features a main continuous video display with rounded corners, measuring nearly 15x97 feet around. An upper ring display, matching the shape of the main display, measures approximately 2.5x97 feet around. A lower ring display in a circle shape measures nearly 2x77 feet in circumference.
Three double-sided displays were installed on the basketball hoop stanchions at the Ford Center, each measuring approximately 1x4 feet wide and featuring 2.5mm pixel spacing. At Terre Haute Casino Resort, the installation of the new displays replaced existing products with new technology, better resolution, and more up-to-date capabilities.
Daktronics was chosen for both projects due to its reputation as the world leader in manufacturing and providing live-event LED display solutions, a large reliable service team, and a good relationship with individuals at the venues.
The installation process for the new displays at Terre Haute Casino Resort faced some challenges, but the project management team was able to rely on their experiences and expertise to keep things moving along and on track. The installation at the Ford Center is scheduled for 2024.
Despite extensive research, specific details about the LED displays at the Ford Center, such as screen size, pixel pitch, resolution, and brightness, remain unavailable. For precise information about these aspects or the vendor selection process, direct inquiry with the Ford Center management or Daktronics would be necessary.
