Guernsey's Marine Ambulance 'Flying Christine III' Temporarily Out of Service

The Flying Christine III, Guernsey's marine ambulance, has been taken out of service due to a mechanical fault. The incident occurred over the weekend, with the issue discovered while the vessel was en route to the Isle of Wight for maintenance.

The fault was discovered north of Alderney, prompting the boat crew to return to Alderney and arrive safely at Braye Harbour. The vessel has since been lifted out of the water for inspection. Work is ongoing to assess the extent of the problem and determine how long the vessel will be out of action.

In the meantime, the Ambulance and Rescue Service has a plan in place to cover the marine ambulance's absence. The operators of the replacement boats taking over the functions of the Flying Christine III during its repair have not been identified.

The Flying Christine III is currently out of service, but the Ambulance and Rescue Service has ensured that marine ambulance services continue to operate. The cause and duration of the outage are being investigated.
