Gray Media Appoints Bob Kroeger as Chief Technology Officer
Gray Media Welcomes New Chief Technology Officer
Bob Kroeger, a seasoned technology executive with extensive experience in the broadcasting industry, has been appointed as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Gray Media. Kroeger's promotion was announced in mid-2025, following his role as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the company since the end of 2024.
Previously, Kroeger held various technology leadership positions in broadcasting at several TV stations, including WSMV (NBC) in Nashville, WOIO/WUAB (CBS/CW) in Cleveland, and WXIX (FOX) in Cincinnati.
Gray Media, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is the largest owner of top-rated local television stations and digital assets in the U.S., reaching about 36% of U.S. TV households. Kroeger’s role as CTO involves leading technology strategy and operations for this large multimedia broadcasting company, indicating significant expertise in both technology and broadcasting sectors.
Throughout his career, Kroeger has supported enterprise-wide technology initiatives, including cloud migration, software rollouts, and new infrastructure deployments. His technical expertise extends to various aspects of IT and broadcast engineering, encompassing IT strategy, enterprise security, broadcast system management, datacenter operations, and emerging technologies.
Notably, Kroeger has overseen multi-site IT and broadcast engineering operations throughout his career. His achievements have earned him a high level of respect among Gray Media’s employees and across the industry.
Pat LaPlatney, the president and co-CEO of Gray Media, expressed excitement about Kroeger’s appointment. However, Kroeger has big shoes to fill with the departure of David Burke, the former CTO of Gray Media, who retired on July 31 and will continue advising the company through the end of the year.
Before joining Gray Media, Kroeger served as Chief Information Officer for Raycom Media, another major broadcast group. His career in the broadcasting industry spans over 32 years, making him an accomplished broadcast CIO and technology executive.
