Google has rolled out an update that makes it easier for Android users to check the battery life of their favorite headphones and earbuds. The new headphone battery pop-up, which works with Google Play services version 25.30.31, is compatible with all Android devices.

The new design for the headphone battery pop-up is in sync with the Bluetooth Device details page design introduced in Android 15 QPR2 on Pixel. It features color-coded rings around each earbud and its charging case icon, along with small status icons such as a lightning bolt to indicate charging. The battery percentage for each component is now displayed just below these rings. Additionally, the case's charging status is now visible with a green ring that shows when it is actively charging the earbuds.

This differs from the previous design where users only saw a simple battery icon with a percentage beneath each accessory icon, without any color coding or charging status visible for the case.

Here's a comparison of the key differences between the previous and new designs:

| Aspect | Previous Design | New Design | |--------------------------------|---------------------------------------------|---------------------------------------------| | Battery Level Indicator | Battery icon with percentage below icon | Color-coded ring around each icon | | Charging Status on Earbuds | Not explicitly shown | Small icons (e.g., lightning bolt) atop ring| | Case Battery Status | No indication | Green ring around case icon shows charging | | Visual Clarity & Readability | Basic, minimal | More visually clear and intuitive |

The compact notification showing all percentages in a single line remains unchanged.

The charging case will now display a battery-discharging icon and a green ring that's not quite full, indicating it's powering up the earbuds. The revamped layout is more readable and visually clear, as first spotted by 9to5Google.

This update is part of Google's ongoing effort to improve the user experience for Android users. Icons will appear to show if earbuds are charging and if the case is discharging power. The new design is consistent with the ring design for the Bluetooth Device details page introduced in Android 15 QPR2 on Pixel.

The update is rolling out now, so keep an eye out for the colorful and clear battery updates in your Android device's headphone notifications.

In the new design, small icons like a lightning bolt are introduced to indicate charging for the smartphones connected earbuds. The color-coded rings around each earbud and its charging case icon, along with the displayed battery percentage, allow for a more visually clear and intuitive understanding of the gadgets' battery life on Android devices.
