Google Home App Update for Android and iOS Users: What's Different in Version 3.40
The Google Home app has received a significant update, version 3.41, which is now rolling out. This update brings a host of new features and improvements, making it easier for users to control their smart home devices and create more personalised automations.
One of the most notable additions is the new automation editor. This upgrade allows users to create smarter automations based on conditions like days of the week, presence, or device status. The new editor also boasts an improved user interface, making it simpler to navigate and use.
Another exciting development is the support for hot water controls and schedules for older Nest Thermostats. This feature is now available for UK and EU models, offering users more control over their heating systems. The Nest Thermostat upgrades also include easier Eco controls, outdoor temperature, and more features, enhancing the overall user experience.
The Google Home app has also been redesigned, offering a fresher, more modern look. New users will benefit from suggested device favourites on the Favorites tab, making it easier to get started.
In addition, filters for person, vehicle, and more have been added to the camera events view. This allows users to easily filter and manage their camera events, making it simpler to find the information they need.
The update also resolves several issues, including a layout issue during device setup on iOS in the Google Home app, an issue causing errors for some users when accessing lock settings on Member accounts with limited access, and a problem with the Google Home Speaker.
The new features and improvements are set to be released on September 19, 2025. The development team behind the Google Home app remains unnamed in the release notes. However, it's clear that this update is a significant step forward in making the Google Home app a more powerful and user-friendly tool for managing smart home devices.
