The 18th Annual Banking and Finance Conference, hosted by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), is set to take place in Abuja in 2025. Themed "The New Economic Playbook: The Intersection of Banking, Policy, and Technology", the event aims to provide a platform for cross-sector dialogue, knowledge sharing, and strategy development to address emerging challenges in the banking and finance industry.

The conference, expected to attract over 10,000 participants worldwide, will feature three business sessions. One of these sessions is 'Unlocking Nigeria's Economic Potential: The Role of the Financial Services Industry'. This session is designed to discuss the critical role the financial services industry plays in unlocking Nigeria's economic potential.

Another sub-theme of the conference is 'Adapting to Global Shocks: Enhancing Risk Management, Compliance, and Regulatory Practices for Sustainable Growth'. This sub-theme emphasizes the importance of adapting to global shocks and strengthening risk management, compliance, and regulatory practices for sustainable growth in the banking and finance sector.

The third sub-theme is 'Navigating the AI Revolution: Strategic Direction for Financial Institutions'. This sub-theme focuses on the strategic direction that financial institutions should take in navigating the AI revolution. Olusanya, the Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank, emphasized the need to continuously create new operational frameworks for the conference.

Prof. Pius Olanrewaju, the President and Chairman of Council of the CIBN, stated that the conference aims to capture dynamic shifts in the financial services industry now and in the future. The conference will also address digital currencies, embedded finance, AI-driven systems, evolving consumer demands, and shifting geopolitics.

The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria has selected Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates as target markets for recruiting more than 10,000 participants for the conference. Mrs. Miriam Olusanya, the Chairman of the Consultative Committee for the conference, made this announcement.

The CIBN conference in 2025 will not be the first time the institute is hosting such an event. The annual flagship event brings together policymakers, regulators, operators, academics, clients, and other stakeholders to discuss key developments in the financial sector and broader economy. The conference is part of the CIBN's core mandate to build capacity in banking and finance.

In conclusion, the 18th Annual Banking and Finance Conference, hosted by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, promises to be a significant event in the banking and finance industry. With its focus on dynamic shifts in the industry, strategic direction for financial institutions, and adapting to global shocks, the conference aims to provide valuable insights and strategies for stakeholders in the industry.
