Genelec Unveils 8380A Midfield Monitor for Exceptional Dynamics and High SPL

Genelec has unveiled the 8380A, a new three-way midfield monitor that joins 'The Main Ones' family. This latest addition promises exceptional dynamics, huge headroom, and high decibel capability, along with extremely low self-noise.

The 8380A boasts an impressive frequency response of 29 Hz to 43 kHz and a maximum short-term decibel level of 122 dB, with a self-generated noise level of just 0 dB SPL. Its physical dimensions match those of the 1038 and 1238 models, making it an ideal upgrade for existing owners.

The monitor features a 380 mm woofer, MDC coaxial midrange-tweeter technology, and two forward-facing reflex ports. Inside, an internal DSP integrates with Genelec's GLM software for system configuration, calibration, and control. GLM also includes the GRADE room report feature for room analysis and optimization. The 8380A ensures accurate time-aligned playback and unparalleled directivity control.

Powering the 8380A is an integrated RAM-L2 power amplifier module, featuring 500 W, 250 W, and 200 W Class D and AB amplifiers.

Genelec Managing Director Siamäk Naghian comments that the 8380A brings next-generation midfield performance to professionals and enthusiasts. With its exceptional specs and seamless integration with GLM software, the 8380A is set to become a popular choice for audio professionals seeking accurate and powerful monitoring.
