Ford is initiating a recall of 355,000 pickup trucks due to a problem with the instrument panel.
Ford Recalls Over 355,000 Trucks Due to Instrument Panel Issue
Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of over 355,000 trucks in the United States, affecting certain models from the 2025 and 2026 model years. The recall is due to an issue with the instrument panel cluster, which manages the digital display in a vehicle's dashboard, and may fail to show critical information such as warning lights, vehicle speed, and navigation.
The recall includes the Ford F-150, F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, and F-550 SD models. Specifically, the affected models are the F-550 SD, F-450 SD, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, and 2025 F-150.
The root cause of the issue is a software problem that disables a memory protection feature in the instrument panel, leading to display failure. Ford has developed and provided the software for the over-the-air updates internally, with no external software manufacturers named in the available sources.
The software update will be distributed via Ford's Diagnostic and Repair System (FDRS) to dealers or over-the-air starting September 2025. The update will be free of charge for all affected customers.
An instrument panel cluster that does not show critical information increases the risk of a crash, as drivers may not be aware of warning lights or the vehicle's speed. The U.S. auto safety authority is involved in the recall to ensure the safety of all affected drivers.
Ford encourages all owners of the affected models to get their trucks serviced as soon as possible to ensure the safety of their vehicles. For more information, customers can contact Ford customer service or their local dealership.
