Ford Drops EcoBoost Engine, Raises Prices for UK Mustang Lineup
Ford has announced changes to its Mustang lineup in the UK. The 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine option has been discontinued, leaving only the V8 Mustang available. Prices have also increased, with the base model starting at around £44,000 and the new Mustang Mach 1 priced at around £55,000.
The shift comes after Ford updated the Mustang in Germany in 2018, introducing the 5.0-litre V8 engine in the Mustang GT. In the UK, the V8 Mustang has always been the more popular choice, with only 15% of buyers opting for the EcoBoost engine since its introduction in 2015. Price has not been the main factor driving sales, suggesting that performance and power have been more appealing to UK buyers.
With the EcoBoost engine no longer an option, UK customers now have a clear choice between the V8 Mustang and the new Mustang Mach 1. The price increase reflects the enhanced features and performance of the latest models.
