Focusrite Marks 40 Years with Scarlett 2i2 Anniversary Edition

Focusrite, the renowned audio technology company, marked its 40th anniversary with a special event in Nashville on September 25, 2025. The celebration saw the release of the Scarlett 2i2 Anniversary Edition, a commemorative audio interface honouring the company's rich history.

The Scarlett 2i2 Anniversary Edition is a tribute to Focusrite's past and present. It sports an ISA-blue chassis, reminiscent of the iconic Fortes, and a historic 'ff' logo, reflecting the company's evolution. Hidden within is a schematic tribute, honouring the brand's legacy.

The company's journey began in 1985 when Rupert Neve founded Focusrite after a commission from Sir George Martin. Only 10 original Forte consoles were produced, but they left a lasting impact on recording history. Today, under the leadership of Phil Dudderidge, who took over in 1989, Focusrite has grown into a global audio technology powerhouse. Dudderidge's career spans nearly six decades, including serving as Led Zeppelin's touring soundman in 1970 and co-founding Soundcraft in 1973.

Under Paul Allen's ownership from 1989, Focusrite transformed into a global player. Investments in R&D, expanded product ranges, and international distribution networks drove this growth. Milestones include the Liquid Channel (2004), Novation Launchpad (2009), and the popular Scarlett range (2012). Strategic acquisitions like ADAM Audio, Martin Audio, and Optimal Audio further strengthened the company's position.

Focusrite's 40th anniversary is a testament to its resilience and innovation. The Scarlett 2i2 Anniversary Edition is more than just a product; it's a symbol of the company's past, present, and future. As it looks ahead, Focusrite continues to shape the world of audio technology, guided by the vision of its founder and chairman, Phil Dudderidge.
