Ondo Chain: Bridging Traditional Finance and DeFi with Institutional-Grade Blockchain

Ondo Finance has launched a new layer-1 blockchain called Ondo Chain, designed to revolutionize the financial industry by tokenizing institutional assets and real-world financial markets with regulatory compliance at its core.

The purpose of Ondo Chain is to bridge traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi) by enabling the issuance and management of institutional-grade tokenized financial instruments, such as tokenized U.S. Treasuries, private credit, and securities, on-chain. This aims to provide greater access, liquidity, and transparency for institutional investors while adhering to regulatory standards.

Key features of Ondo Chain include a native utility token ONDO to power the ecosystem and governance, a focus on tokenized real-world assets underpinned by regulatory compliance, integration with other blockchain networks and fiat-to-crypto gateways, and smart contract infrastructure to support yield-generating tokenized products and DeFi borrowing and lending platforms.

Ondo Chain has garnered recognition as a pioneer in tokenized finance, with the White House’s Digital Asset Markets Report highlighting its institutional credibility and leadership in compliant tokenized asset infrastructure. The platform has also formed a global alliance involving major players like BNB Chain and Bitget Global to standardize tokenized asset ecosystems worldwide.

CEO Nathan Allman stated that Ondo Chain is designed to meet institutional standards while being open for developers and innovators. To ensure this, Ondo Finance has chosen Franklin Templeton, Wellington Management, and WisdomTree to advise on the design of the blockchain.

Ondo Chain reduces costs, enhances security, and improves user experience by tightly coupling on-chain and off-chain infrastructure. It allows for asset transfers between Ondo Chain and other supported networks via native omnichain bridging. The platform also enables staking for tokenized real-world assets for network security.

Ondo Finance has also launched Ondo Global Markets, aiming to bring stocks, bonds, and ETFs on-chain. Ondo Global Markets intends to replicate the impact stablecoins had on fiat, offering exposure to over 1,000 NYSE- and Nasdaq-listed securities.

In summary, Ondo Chain is an institutional-grade blockchain platform purpose-built to tokenize real-world financial assets with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance, institutional usability, and DeFi integration, enabling a new generation of secure and compliant tokenized financial products.
