Ferrovial Energy to Build 250MW Texas Solar Plant by 2027

Ferrovial Energy, a leading global infrastructure company, has announced plans to construct a 250MW solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in Milam County, Texas. The project, expected to be operational by 2027, aims to supply electricity to the Texas grid and support long-term economic growth in the region.

The facility, once completed, will generate around 450GWh of electricity annually, enough to power approximately 43,000 homes. Ferrovial Energy CEO María José Esteruelas expects the project to create nearly 300 jobs during the construction phase, supporting local services and strengthening energy reliability.

Ferrovial will oversee the construction, operation, and maintenance of the facility. This project will expand Ferrovial's energy portfolio in Texas, complementing its existing 257MW DC plant in Leon County. The company previously built a 72MW PV power plant in the Houston area for CenterPoint Energy in July.

The 250MW solar PV facility in Milam County is expected to commence construction in the coming months, with a total project cost of approximately $355m, including debt financing. Upon completion, the facility will significantly contribute to Texas's renewable energy capacity and stimulate local economic growth.
