FAW Unveils Hongqi H9, China's Answer to Rolls-Royce

FAW Group Corporation has unveiled the Hongqi H9, a luxury sedan designed to rival the likes of Rolls-Royce. The car, designed by Chinese automotive designer Ding Yangfeng and Giles Taylor, is set to launch in June with a pre-sale price starting at 350,000 yuan.

The Hongqi H9 boasts a longitudinal rear-drive chassis and a 2.0T engine capable of producing up to 252hp and 380Nm of torque. Higher-end models will feature a 3.0L V6 mechanical supercharged engine and air suspension, ensuring a smooth and powerful drive.

The interior is lavishly appointed with numerous wood grain veneers and leather wrapping. The 'zero-gravity' seats and a nearly 3-meter wheelbase provide ample space and comfort. Qiu Baoxing, Deputy General Manager of FAW Group Corporation, stressed the importance of controlling core components and technology, as seen in the Hongqi H9.

A significant feature of the Hongqi H9 is its use of the DCT400 transmission, the first of its kind in a car. The establishment of the powertrain factory and mass production of the DCT400 gearbox aim to bolster FAW's product offerings and competitiveness.

The Hongqi H9, marketed as the 'Chinese version of Rolls-Royce', is set to make waves in the luxury car market. With its powerful engine options, luxurious interior, and innovative transmission, the Hongqi H9 promises a compelling driving experience. Its official launch in June will reveal more about its capabilities and market reception.
