In a move to solidify its position as a leading fintech company, British financial services provider Revolut launched its full-fledged mobile phone service plans in the UK and Germany in mid-2025. This expansion marks a significant step towards Revolut's goal of becoming a super app for finances, offering a seamless user experience across banking, financial services, and now mobile telecommunications in its primary markets.

Revolut's mobile offering, which includes unlimited domestic data and generous roaming options, is poised to compete in the telecom market with transparent pricing and the convenience of managing mobile plans through the Revolut app. The service uses eSIM technology, allowing fintech companies to offer tariffs without the need for their own SIM cards, a trend that has been gaining traction in the industry.

The exact network providers for Revolut's mobile service have not been confirmed, but the company has been known for its innovative approach to technology. The plans feature unlimited domestic data within the UK and Germany and come with competitive pricing, although the specific prices for the mobile plans have not been detailed in the sources. Given Revolut’s app-based approach, users can manage their mobile plans entirely through the Revolut app, integrated with their banking and financial services.

The launch dates occurred around May to July 2025, with reports from May 2025 onwards highlighting the new mobile offerings in both the UK and Germany. Lars-Thorben Niggehoff, a freelance journalist and founder of the journalism bureau 'dreimaldrei', wrote about the news for financial, SME, and real estate publications.

The boundaries between the financial and mobile industries have been blurred due to the increasing presence of fintech companies in the mobile sector. Historically, banking and mobile industries have been separate, but fintech companies like Revolut and Bling are moving into the mobile sector. Fintech companies have been offering mobile services through cooperation partners, with Revolut using 1Global and Bling using Deutsche Telekom.

Revolut's general manager, Hadi Nasrallah, states that the success of their eSIM product has proven that mobile offers are ready for disruption. The company currently has around 50 million customers, placing it ahead in the European comparison, but still far behind Asian super apps like WeChat and Alipay.

As Revolut continues to expand its services, it remains to be seen how the quality of its mobile tariff will measure up against its competitors. However, with its commitment to transparency, convenience, and innovation, it is clear that Revolut is well-positioned to make a significant impact in the telecom market.

Revolut's move into mobile telecommunications, driven by the adoption of eSIM technology, signifies a strategic alliance between the banking, finance, and technology sectors. This expansion allows users to manage their mobile plans alongside banking and financial services through the Revolut app.

With its success in the fintech industry and commitment to transparency and innovation, Revolut aims to disrupt the traditional telecom market, positioning itself as a significant player in the business landscape of both finance and technology.
