Expanding Operations in the Netherlands: Airwallex Experiences Remarkable Growth, Boasting a 199% Increase in Revenue, Attracting New Clientele, and Strengthening Team Dynamics

Airwallex, a leading fintech company, has announced a staggering 199% year-on-year revenue increase in Q2 2025 in the Netherlands. This growth is a testament to the company's strategic expansion and the demand for its services in the Dutch market.

Factors Contributing to Growth

The significant growth can be attributed to several key factors. Airwallex has witnessed a nearly threefold increase in active customer accounts compared to Q2 2024. Impressive client wins, including notable Dutch companies such as Creative Fabrica, Aurum Brothers, Vallon, Bird, Nivoda, and WeTravel, have also contributed to the revenue surge.

The company's strategic approach to the Dutch market involves launching localized products and services. This includes the introduction of NL IBANs, integration with Exact Online, a Dutch ERP platform, and the offering of multi-currency settlement services. These services not only reduce foreign exchange costs but also allow payments and receipts in customers’ preferred currencies and methods.

Expanding Commercial Team and Partnerships

To support this growth, Airwallex has bolstered its commercial team with several senior hires, including Tom Butlin as Senior Director Compliance, Laurens Maartens as Executive Director Yield, and Bart Verweij as Treasury Director. The company has also formed new partnerships, such as the one with MatchWornShirt, which is already making a difference in significant areas of their business.

Global Expansion and Future Plans

Airwallex's expansion in Amsterdam not only strengthens local infrastructure and talent investment but also expands its fintech presence in the city. The company's growth in the Netherlands has mirrored its continued impressive growth across EMEA. Kai Wu, Chief Revenue Officer at Airwallex, stated that Airwallex is investing in both its technology and local teams to continue growth in the Netherlands.

The current headcount of Airwallex's NL team is 50, with a large and growing number of engineers. The new office, located in a central location in the Silicon Canals, reflects Airwallex's commitment to the Dutch market.

Airwallex's recent success in the Netherlands includes partnerships with Arsenal football club and the addition of new customers such as Creative Fabrica, Aurum Brothers, and Vallon to its Dutch customer base. Bob Zonderwijk, Founder of MatchWornShirt, expressed satisfaction as one of the first customers on the ground in Amsterdam.
