RiGA'S PUBLIC TRANSIT GETS A SUSTAINABLE UPGRADE 🚀
Expanding Installation of Papercast Digital Signage by Rīgas Satiksme
Rīgas Satiksme, the company behind Riga's public transit, is stepping up its game by installing more ** Papercast e-paper displays** at its facilities. The goal is to make the travel experience smoother for commuters by offering them essential information in a user-friendly manner. This move marks the second phase of integrating Papercast's e-paper signage solution, following the positive feedback received in the initial implementation.
Rīgas Satiksme opted for Papercast's 23-inch e-paper displays after reviewing various available options. These displays boast excellent visibility, wide viewing angles, and impressive power efficiency. In fact, the Papercast displays used by Rīgas Satiksme recharge overnight using streetlights, resulting in substantial energy savings without compromising functionality when compared to traditional LCD or LED displays.
To give you an idea of how energy-efficient Papercast e-paper displays are, consider this: While it takes 1,080 Wh for LED displays to operate daily, the same for Papercast displays is only 15 Wh daily. That's a whopping 98.6 percent energy savings! In terms of costs, it costs €1,080 to operate LED panels yearly, whereas e-paper displays set you back just €1.53 annually.
Moreover, e-paper displays are friendlier to the environment. According to estimates, Papercast displays emit only 1 kilo of carbon in a year, compared to 82 kilos of carbon emitted annually by LED displays. This translates to a 98.8 percent reduction in fresh carbon deposition in the environment every year with the use of Papercast e-paper displays.
Apart from energy savings, the displays offer high-quality, glare-free visuals, ensuring travelers have access to the most up-to-date info in real-time. Other benefits of the Papercast e-paper displays include a simple user interface, customizable features, easy installation, and compatibility with existing fleet management systems.
Cameron Maconie, Head of Business Development at Papercast, expresses his excitement about the continued partnership with Rīgas Satiksme: "We are thrilled to join forces with Rīgas Satiksme in their mission to adopt forward-thinking, eco-friendly passenger information solutions." Maconie added, "The selection of Papercast displays for the second phase rollout underscores the remarkable benefits of our cutting-edge technology, making it the perfect fit for modernizing public transport infrastructure."
