Expanded range now offered on the latest Model 3 Tesla, resulting in cost reductions for other variants.
Tesla Introduces Most Efficient Model 3 Variant in Europe
Tesla has expanded its European lineup with the addition of a new variant of the Model 3, the "Maximum Range with Rear-Wheel Drive" (LR RWD). This latest offering boasts a certified range of an impressive 702 kilometers, making it the most efficient Tesla ever built.
The LR RWD Model 3 was initially priced at 38,490 euros, but in July, the price increased by 1,500 euros in anticipation of impending EU tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles. However, recent negotiations have resulted in a lower tariff rate of 7.8 percent, which is lower than the initially expected 21 percent.
The Model 3 Performance remains at its increased price of 58,490 euros. In a move to reduce inventory and compete with rising pressure, Tesla has reduced the price of two of the three other Highland Model 3 variants by up to 2,500 euros. The smallest Model 3 variant, the RWD, has seen its price reduced from 42,490 euros to 39,990 euros.
Interestingly, Tesla has not mentioned any changes to the price of the third Highland Model 3 variant. The price of the LR AWD Model 3 has been reduced by 1,500 euros, bringing its cost down to 49,990 euros.
Current Tesla customers can benefit from a 1,000 euro discount on the Model 3 and other models using a referral code. This offer is also available for new Tesla customers. The discounted price for the LR RWD Model 3 starts at 44,990 euros.
It's worth noting that the now-announced range of 702 kilometers on 18-inch wheels seems conservative, as tests have shown it can reach up to 729 WLTP kilometers. This range exceeds the range of the more expensive Model S, which is listed at 634 kilometers in the configurator.
Negotiations are ongoing between the EU and China for a possible alternative solution before the final collection in November. These developments suggest that the prices of Tesla's electric vehicles in Europe may continue to evolve in the coming months.
