Expanded Chery Lineup in New Zealand: Introduction of Tiggo 7 and 8 with Advanced Super Hybrid Technology

Chery Introduces Super Bowl Technology in Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 Models

Chinese automaker Chery is set to introduce its 'Super Bowl' technology in the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 models, marking the first time these models will be available in New Zealand. The Tiggo 4 petrol, the first Chery-branded model announced for New Zealand, will remain separate from the Jaecoo sub-brand, which is also a part of Chery.

The Tiggo 7 and 8 models, already on sale in Australia, are facelift versions and are expected to make their New Zealand debut soon. The Tiggo 7 is a medium-sized SUV with 5 seats, while the Tiggo 8 is a larger model with 7 seats. Both models come equipped with Super Bowl technology, a system similar to the one recently launched in the Jaecoo J7.

The Super Bowl technology in the Tiggo 7 and 8 models utilises a 1.5-litre engine paired with an 18.3kWh plug-in battery. This technology promises an impressive EV range of 90km and a total range of 1200km with petrol/electric systems combined. The battery also supports DC fast charging, allowing users to recharge from 30-80% in a claimed 19 minutes.

While more details about the Super Bowl technology in the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8, including pricing, will be revealed closer to their launch in July, the claimed starting price for the Tiggo 7 with Super Bowl technology is around $50,000, given its larger size compared to the Jaecoo 7 SHS.

The Tiggo 4 petrol, on the other hand, does not feature Super Bowl technology and is expected to have a lower price point. No available information has been released on when the Chery Super Bowl will be introduced in the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 models in New Zealand.

In New Zealand, the two brands, Chery and Jaecoo, will remain separate, with each offering its unique lineup of vehicles. The introduction of the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 models marks an exciting step forward for Chery in the New Zealand market, offering consumers a new choice in hybrid technology.
