The renovated training space at The Connection, based in Middletown, CT, has undergone a significant transformation, thanks to a grant and the expertise of Metinteractive. The upgraded facility, equipped with Q-SYS equipment, now supports hybrid presentations and training sessions, integrating audio, video, and control systems that work harmoniously together.

Key features of the new setup include Q-SYS sound bars under wall-mounted 86-inch and 75-inch flat panel displays, providing clear program audio playback. Sonance ceiling speakers amplify program audio and far-end audio from remote participants, ensuring all attendees hear clearly. Shure beam-forming ceiling microphone arrays capture speech from in-room participants for clear transmission to remote attendees.

Q-SYS video cameras at the front and rear of training rooms deliver multiple views of instructors and presentations, with an additional camera capturing the presenter when rooms are combined for larger sessions, supporting flexible room layouts. Touch screen control via Q-SYS simplifies management of audio, video, and camera systems during sessions. Mersive Solstice systems enable Wi-Fi connectivity for easy content sharing.

This integration allows hybrid sessions to have high-quality audio and video capture and playback, enabling smooth interaction between in-person and remote participants. The scalability of the system, with multiple rooms and combined configurations, supports different training formats and group sizes.

Metinteractive, responsible for project management and engineering, praised Q-SYS equipment for its reliability and effectiveness. The CEO of The Connection, Lisa DeMatteis-Lepore, appreciated Metinteractive's technical expertise, understanding of values, and commitment to innovation and excellence in service delivery.

The smallest room is outfitted with a 75-inch flat panel, while the end and middle rooms have wall-mounted 86-inch flat panel displays. For presentations in combined mode, any source can be selected for display on one or multiple monitors. The end room also includes a ceiling-mounted projector and projection screen.

The upgraded training space is in frequent use, with new hire orientations scheduled every two weeks. The seamless integration of technology, combined with Metinteractive's staff training, aims to improve collaboration and training outcomes for The Connection's community.

In summary, the Q-SYS-based system creates a robust, flexible environment for hybrid training by combining advanced audio capture and playback, video coverage, wireless content sharing, and intuitive control — all tailored to meet the needs of a diverse and distributed audience.
