Enhancement of Wireless Connectivity in Rural Areas

In remote villages of Yakutia – Botulu, Erte, and Kharyyalakh – nearly 2,000 residents are now connected to mobile networks and the internet for the first time, courtesy of MegaFon. Teams from the operator have installed fourth-generation base stations in these settlements to ensure stable connectivity and fast internet.

In Erte, mid-frequency LTE layers were employed, providing high-speed downloads and sufficient network capacity to accommodate numerous devices without delays. However, due to the higher density of streets and buildings in Botulu and Kharyyalakh, low-frequency layers were also implemented to allow the signal to travel several dozen kilometers and penetrate buildings more effectively.

Isolation once characterized life in Botulu and Erte, as they are located far from major roads and other settlements. With the advent of mobile connectivity and the internet, the local community can now maintain contact with distant relatives, access news, utilize government services, and find answers to their queries online. This digital revolution enables students to learn new knowledge, working parents to take courses and work as freelancers, and elderly residents to consult with healthcare providers virtually.

Kharyyalakh, situated near the Verkhnevilyuysky raion center, offers facilities such as stores, educational and cultural institutions, a post office, and a fire station, with the Kentisky tract passing by. With improved connectivity, inhabitants can now download large files, watch online movies, browse blogs, and even start their online businesses.

Given MegaFon's continuous expansion of its telecommunications network in Yakutia, their technical officials have installed equipment in seven settlements this year, successfully launching connectivity in Botulu, Kharyyalakh, and Erte.
