Dubai Expands EV Charging Network to Boost Sustainability
Dubai's commitment to sustainable transport has taken a significant step with a new agreement. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Parkin Company have joined forces to expand the city's public electric vehicle (EV) charging network.
The agreement aligns with Dubai's Green Mobility Strategy 2030, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA's manager, formalized the contract extension for this cooperation.
The first phase of the project will see 100 new EV chargers installed at strategic locations across Dubai. These will include residential communities, shopping malls, leisure destinations, and public areas. This expansion will significantly boost the current network of over 1,500 public charging points, with more than 19,000 registered users as of August 2025.
Parkin will manage service delivery via its smart app, ensuring users have a seamless charging experience. Meanwhile, DEWA will oversee the operation and performance of the chargers, maintaining the high standards of the existing network.
This strategic agreement between DEWA and Parkin is set to enhance Dubai's EV charging infrastructure, making it more convenient for residents and visitors to adopt electric vehicles. The expansion aligns with the city's sustainability goals and is expected to further reduce its carbon footprint.
