Carrollton Police Officer Dustin Krish Makes Progress in Recovery
Two months after being hit by a car and airlifted to the hospital, Dustin Krish, a police officer from Carrollton County, has made significant strides in his recovery.
On June 11, Dustin was struck by a car while directing traffic near the Ingles on Highway 27. He was taken to Marietta's Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center in serious condition. Since then, Dustin has undergone two intensive surgeries and is currently in physical and speech therapy.
According to an update shared by Dustin's sister-in-law, Jessica Krish, Dustin has been declared "minimally conscious." Recently, he reached out to hold his wife's hand unprompted, and he can wiggle his fingers and toes. The most promising sign yet came when Dustin scored an 8 on his Coma Recovery Scale, the highest score yet.
Dustin joined the Carrollton Police Department three years ago, and his recent marriage last November is another new detail that has emerged. Jessica described Dustin as a person who lights up every room and has a heart that radiates warmth. The fundraiser set up to help pay for Dustin's medical treatments describes him in the same way, mentioning trust in a God of miracles for his recovery.
