Completion of Israel's Laser Defense Weapon Project Announced
The Ministry of Defense of Israel has announced the successful completion of the development of a revolutionary laser defense weapon, dubbed "Iron Beam". This decisive milestone marks a significant step towards handing over the system to the army for operational use.
"Iron Beam" is a ground-breaking ground-based laser air defense system, making Israel the first country to possess such technology. The system has already proven its effectiveness in the current war, with tactical short-range lasers from "Iron Beam" intercepting dozens of threats.
Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, considers the development of "Iron Beam" a historic milestone for Israel's defense capabilities. Katz stated that enemies from various regions should know that Israel is strong in both defense and offense, and will protect the security of Israeli citizens.
The new laser defense system, developed by Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems in collaboration with Elbit Systems, is significantly cheaper than existing defense systems. According to US reports, "Iron Beam" can neutralize drones for approximately four dollars per engagement. Moreover, the operating costs of "Iron Beam" are very low, making it a cost-effective alternative to the multi-stage missile defense system currently used by Israel.
"Iron Beam" is expected to be integrated into the Israeli air defense by the end of the year, providing a robust and precise air defense solution. The system's targeting technology allows it to quickly neutralize threats with precision, and it can intercept missiles, mortars, aircraft, and drones in various scenarios.
With the successful development of "Iron Beam", Israel is set to strengthen its air defense capabilities, ensuring the safety and security of its citizens for years to come.
