Coca-Cola Vietnam Moves Production to New $136M Plant in Tay Ninh

Swire Pacific Ltd. has concluded its acquisition of Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam, the country's bottling subsidiary, in January 2023. The deal marks a significant shift in the soft drink giant's operations in Vietnam, where it has been present since 1995.

Coca-Cola has operated a facility on Vo Nguyen Giap street, Linh Xuan ward, since 1995. However, the company has announced plans to relocate its production to a new plant in Tay Ninh province. The new facility, launched in July 2023 with an investment of $136 million, spans 19 hectares and boasts five production lines, capable of producing up to one billion liters annually.

The move comes as Vietnam's 2020 Investment Law requires investors to terminate projects when their investment term expires. Coca-Cola has decided to cease operations at its plant in Ho Chi Minh City on February 20, 2023, bringing an end to its 30-year investment license in the city.

Swire Coca-Cola's sales in Vietnam reached 155 million unit cases in 2024, making it the company's third-largest market globally. Despite Vietnam's per capita consumption of Coca-Cola products being the lowest among the six markets managed by Swire Coca-Cola, the company remains committed to the region. The new plant in Tay Ninh signals Coca-Cola's long-term fidelity to Vietnam's beverage market.
