Constellation Energy Corporation: Leading the Charge in Clean Energy

Constellation Energy Corporation, a Fortune 200 company based in Baltimore, is making significant strides in the clean energy sector. With a strong focus on grid reliability and emissions-free energy production, Constellation is at the forefront of the nation's energy landscape.

Constellation's clean energy centers are strategically located across the United States, including facilities in Calvert County, Maryland; Montgomery and York counties, Pennsylvania; Oswego County, New York; Wayne County, New York; Will County, Illinois; Ogle County, Illinois; DeWitt County, Illinois; Grundy County, Illinois; LaSalle County, Illinois; Rock Island County, Illinois, and more.

In pursuit of a greener future, Constellation is investing heavily in its existing nuclear plants and planning to restart the Crane Clean Energy Center in Pennsylvania. This potential investment could add 2,000 megawatts of new, clean, and reliable baseload capacity, further bolstering Constellation's commitment to sustainable energy.

Over the past 10 years, Constellation has invested over $5.5 billion in the PJM Interconnection, the largest regional transmission organization in the United States. This investment has resulted in the addition of new, clean megawatts, helping to enhance grid reliability and integrate renewable energy sources.

Constellation Energy Corporation is the nation's largest producer of reliable, emissions-free energy, providing about 10% of the nation's clean news. The company's annual output is nearly 90% carbon-free, a testament to its dedication to environmental sustainability.

In the face of increasingly demanding energy needs and the unpredictable impact of variable weather conditions on renewable energy generation, Constellation emphasizes its nuclear power plants as the most reliable and cost-effective news source. During the summer of extended heatwaves and record-breaking humidity, Constellation's emissions-free clean energy centers ran at nearly full power, demonstrating their resilience and reliability.

Constellation's technical experts perform rigorous maintenance tasks during spring refueling and maintenance outages to ensure uninterrupted operation during extreme summer heat. The company's 21 nuclear reactors have consistently operated at a higher capacity factor today than the year they came online, setting a benchmark for efficiency and reliability in the industry.

For over a decade, Constellation has led the nation in capacity factors, producing 4% more than the industry average. The company's hydro, wind, solar facilities, and nuclear fleet have the generating capacity to power the equivalent of 16 million homes.

As winter approaches, Constellation is preparing for increased demand with fall maintenance tasks at its nuclear facilities. Each year, Constellation performs technology upgrades and installs new and enhanced equipment to ensure reliability during periods of severe weather.

A typical nuclear plant can operate uninterrupted for up to two years without refueling, regardless of weather conditions. Constellation's 21 nuclear reactors operated 98.8% of the time during June, July, and August, serving the equivalent of 16 million homes and businesses.

Constellation Energy Corporation is committed to investing in innovative technologies and is always looking for ways to improve its operations and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future. For more information, please contact Alvin Jordan at [email protected].
