China's NPPA Issues Record 173 Game Licenses in August 2025

China's National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) has issued a record-breaking number of game licenses in August 2025. The surge in approvals, totaling 173, has been welcomed by industry analysts who anticipate a boost in the gaming sector's content and valuation.

Leading the pack of approved games are domestic titles such as NetEase's 'Tianxia: Wanxiang', 37 Interactive Entertainment's 'Super Bull Heroes', and Bilibili's 'Escape from Duckov'. The August batch also includes 166 domestic online games and 7 imported titles, reflecting a diverse range of gaming experiences.

The NPPA's increased approvals come after a year of growth, with over 1,119 licenses issued by August 2025, marking a 193 increase from the previous year.
