BYD to Officially Unveil X MPV Via Twitter Profile on January 8th
Chinese automotive giant BYD is set to launch its latest offering, the "our X" MPV, on January 8 at the Beijing National Aquatics Center. Despite no specific "our X (Twitter) profileia MPV" model being released in 2021, the "our X" MPV could potentially be a variant of the BYD M6, a multi-purpose vehicle with similar specifications and available since earlier years.
The BYD M6, a seven-seater MPV, boasts a lithium iron phosphate battery, regenerative braking, and a single AC permanent magnet synchronous motor. Its dimensions include a length of 4710 mm, a width of 1810 mm, and a height of 1690 mm, with a wheelbase of 2800 mm and a cargo volume of 180 L. The BYD M6's kerb weight is 1800 kg, and its gross weight is 2374 kg [1].
If the "our X" MPV is not the BYD M6, another possible candidate could be the more recent BYD M9, which offers hybrid powertrains and advanced features such as a 1060 km range, full LED lighting, 360-degree cameras, and a cargo space expandable to over 2,000 liters with all seats folded [3]. However, the BYD M9 was officially released around 2025.
Priced in the RMB 300,000 ($40,980) class, the "our X" MPV is expected to be a premium offering in BYD's Dynasty lineup, which previously included the Han, Tang, Qin, Song, and Yuan families, all named after Chinese historical dynasties [4]. The "our X" MPV is larger than the Denza D9, another MPV available in China through BYD's Denza sub-brand, with dimensions of 5,145 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, 1,805 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,045 mm [5].
BYD's stock ticker symbols are HKG: 1211 and OTCMKTS: BYDDY [6]. The "our X" MPV is expected to feature BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, which was released last year and promises lower fuel consumption [7].
Pre-orders for the "our X" MPV began on September 27, but pricing information was not released at that time [8]. The "our X" MPV is part of BYD's multiple lineups, with the other major one being the Ocean series [9].
