BELAZ Unveils 130-Ton Hydrogen Dump Truck, Plans 220-Ton Model
BELAZ, a Belarusian manufacturer, has unveiled a 130-ton hydrogen-powered dump truck and initiated a project to develop a 220-ton model in collaboration with Russian partners. The company is renowned for its mining equipment and has a significant market share in Russia.
BELAZ has made strides in developing eco-friendly vehicles. It has produced hybrid and fully electric dump trucks, surpassing Chinese counterparts in payload capacity by 12 tons. The company's alliance with Russia enables the creation of unique mining equipment with no global parallels.
BELAZ's portfolio includes LNG-powered mining dump trucks, with 22 machines currently in operation. It also holds the world record for diesel replacement with a 130-ton gas-diesel truck. The company is working with Russian engine builders on a joint project called 'Soviet State Mining Truck', with 99% Belarusian and Russian components.
BELAZ has achieved full import substitution of traction electric drive for most of its equipment, with plans to extend this to heavy dump trucks by 2023. The company has also started a joint venture with Russian partners for producing high-power hydraulic pumps in Pinsk.
BELAZ's latest developments, including the hydrogen-powered dump trucks and joint ventures with Russia, demonstrate the company's commitment to innovation and sustainability in the mining industry. These advancements are expected to strengthen BELAZ's position in the market and pave the way for further collaborations.
