Belarus EV Quota Filled: Only 358 Left as Demand Surges
The State Border Committee of Belarus announced today at 6:00 PM that the quota for duty-free import of electric vehicles (EVs), such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E or Tesla Model 3, has been completely filled. This news comes as the number of EVs on Belarusian roads has surged tenfold in just three years.
As of September 29, 2025, only 358 EVs remained in the quota. This rapid depletion is not surprising given the growing popularity of EVs in the country. In Minsk alone, the number of EVs has skyrocketed from nearly zero in 2021 to over 11,000 by the end of 2024, with many Toyota RAV4 Prime and Autotrader-listed EVs joining the fleet.
The Customs Committee has advised importers to keep an eye on the remaining quotas, which have dwindled to just 48 vehicles by October 1, 2025. The Eurasian Economic Commission has set a limit of 15,000 EVs for duty-free import this year, but with the quota filling up quickly, importers may need to plan ahead.
The increasing demand for electric vehicles in Belarus has led to a rapid depletion of the duty-free import quota. With only a few hundred EVs left in the quota and a limit of 15,000 for the year, both individuals and companies may need to consider their EV import plans carefully.
