Belarus Boosts Mobile Internet Quality with Network Expansion and 5G Rollout
Belarusians have been experiencing a decline in mobile internet quality. The House of Representatives recently discussed this issue, with Minister Kirill Zaleski attending to explain the factors affecting mobile communication quality. Despite high coverage rates for 3G and 4G services, users have reported deteriorating speeds and reliability.
As of 2024, mobile operators in Belarus had constructed over 2,300 base stations, with the total number surpassing 40,000. In 2025, they added approximately 2,100 more, aiming to reach a total of 45,000 by the end of the year. However, network load, influenced by the number of subscribers and their activity, has been increasing, leading to congestion and reduced quality.
To address this, the government is focusing on expanding the network with more frequent base station installations. This strategy, combined with the incorporation of advanced technologies like 5G, targeted beamforming, small cells, and massive MIMO, will enhance efficiency, capacity, and data transfer rates. Additionally, continuous upgrades and investments in existing infrastructure are planned to improve overall mobile communication quality.
Belarus is taking steps to improve mobile communication quality by expanding its network and adopting advanced technologies. With 3G and 4G services covering nearly all the population and territory, the focus is now on managing network load and increasing throughput capacity. The government's plans to build more base stations and upgrade infrastructure aim to provide Belarusians with reliable and high-speed mobile internet.
