"Cause for great caution": Bavaria passes drone law - Bavaria Tightens Drone Laws After Munich Airport Disruptions
Munich Airport and Oktoberfest were recently disrupted by drone sightings, leading to temporary flight suspensions. In response, Bavaria is introducing a breaking news drone law to bolster police powers and enhance safety.
The Federal Police reported drones up to one meter in size during the sightings, causing significant disruptions. To tackle this issue, Bavaria is set to pass a news drone law this year. This law will lift the ban on arming drones, allowing police to use other drones to disable dangerous ones. As a last resort, police will be authorized to shoot down drones that pose an imminent threat.
To further strengthen its response to drone incidents, Bavaria is establishing a drone competence and defense center in Erding. This center will consolidate existing and new drone-related competencies, enhancing the state's ability to manage drone threats effectively.
Bavaria's new drone law, expected to be passed this year, will provide police with additional tools to counter drone-related incidents. The establishment of the drone competence and defense center in Erding will further bolster the state's capabilities in this area.
